Kitchen Styles
The kitchen and its style weren’t much of a concern in the subject of interior designs until recent times. It has been acknowledged by both the makers and the consumers that this is an important part of daily lives.
Now if you can just think back in times when you were a child and at home. What was the kitchen like and what was its position? Normally this was just a room where all the appliances and utensils were kept and it was your mother who was the constant resident here. She would cook and you would only gather at the table to eat the meals and that was the dining area. In some cases there were cooks who did the same.
Now imagine the modern kitchen of your family home. You and your partner are both working and there are two children going to a high school and college. The timing is irregular for all of you and at the same time very little. So what is the difference that’s caused?
Everyone has to be self sufficient for their needs. The kitchen can no longer be the responsibility of one person alone.
And here is where kitchen styles become important. It has to be designed in such a way that there is no difficulty in working even if it is the first time that you enter the area.
Types of Kitchen Styles
If we see the latest kitchen styles and think that this was the only one that ever existed in the world then we would be wrong. These are undoubtedly state of the art but they are innovations on the older styles of kitchen that were there. And there can be no denying the fact that there were certain aspects that were unique in kitchens of the past as well.
Here are certain aspects of the types of kitchen styles.
Traditional Kitchen Styles
There were certain aspects of kitchen building that were typical in the traditional styles. The use of wood was primary. Whatever constructions were made within the kitchen were made of wood.
The designs too were very basic. There were shelves and cabinets that were made with wood and in straight lines. The use of plastic or polymer and other fixtures were not included.
The color schemes that were picked were deeper shades of mahogany or amber. However there was a use of heavy embellishments both in the form of woodwork and metallic fittings.
Modern Kitchen Styles
The contemporary or modern kitchen styles concentrate on giving the kitchen a look of its own rather than merely branding it as a place for cooking and eating activities.
There is a lot of detailing that goes into the color schemes and the use of different raw materials to make the cabinets and other fixtures durable and stylish at the same time.
There is a lot of attention paid to keeping the cabinets minimal so as to keep some open space since area is a constraint in modern accommodation. Colors are also lighter in hue no matter which shade is used.
Quality wood as opposed to that of traditional kitchen styles are not only expensive nowadays but difficult to maintain as well.
Another important aspect of the modern kitchen is the uniqueness of the new range of plumbing materials like taps and sinks along with faucets and pipes that are used.
