Murals can be described as something permanent which can be applied on a wall and which is fixed for over a time period. It is a form of Painting or an art form which gives a wall of the room a distinguished look. In ancient times the kings used Murals as an art form to engrave their palace walls with different pictures of their favorite God and Goddess or depicting their artistic endeavors in the form of Murals.

Baby nursery wall murals will include what we like to see in infants’ room; the things that attract an infant; and also make him happy and cheerful. It could be anything from Teddy family to Toyland or fairy land. The colors should be taken into importance as well. It is always better to use soft and pastel colors as they are best suited for children alike. Anything in lavender and peach is also anytime preferable. It is the good time for Moms to be, to show their emotions and experiment with the hidden artist inside them. Today’s varied options may offer altogether different and exorbitant mural ideas. Anything which is abstract is the idea of the day. The emphasis is to make the walls come alive by putting extra charm and beauty to your little one’s environment. When someone comes to bless your little angel, they would feel special warmth and comfort in his room and years after he grows up and flips through the album it would add to his pleasure and also sense of amazement at the love and affection that was showered on him as a child. Nursery wall murals ideas are immense, you just need to make it a little more centric towards your requirements

Children are slightly different in their mental capabilities than infants. Their expectations are also different and they want a comparatively grown up world around them to which they can relate accordingly. Children’s Nursery Wall Murals thereby have to reflect the same. Once the parents can realize the interest and the composition of their young ones rooms, they can plan it accordingly. There are a thousand décor companies which would be more than happy to help you with the same. Either you can paint a jungle theme, or simply anything from Noah’s arch to a groovy haunted castle, or a beach view can make them feel exotic; what has to be kept in mind that boys are different than girls so a little carelessness can spoil your effort. Wall designs for nursery for require some efforts to make them come out as success. There will be unlimited ideas to creativity which one can add and the things which would inspire you have to be chosen by your little angels.

If ever you felt the need to re-do your living room; and if the monotony is getting into your nerves while instigating you to do something new, its probably time to seek the help of a professional interior designer. Though this term has gained ground lately it wasn’t that known a decade before. Interior designer by no means should be confused with Interior Decorator; as the latter is just a drop of the vast ocean which the former consists.

A professional interior designer is the one who has the degree from (NCIDQ) i.e. National council for interior design qualification. Anyone who doesn’t possess this degree would not be legally accepted at this designation. The increasing urbanization and globalization have given vent to the mushrooming of large scale organizations. Also to meet the challenges of ever growing population the construction of comfortable lavish apartments; with ample space is the most essential component where professional Interior Designers can flaunt his skills. Also with the increasing number of multiplexes, hotels, bar lounge and spas the career of serious and dedicated Interior Designers have touched new heights.

Before you know it, he will convert your two inch space into a passage and make it into lobby connecting to the kitchen. Though everybody can’t be an Interior Designer yet there needs to be some inborn traits, to be an interior designer. And the professional interior designer tips can thereby provide you with lot of incentives to do the work

Creative and innovative style- whatever you do should add a zing of creative flavor else your work can get unnoticed and unappreciated.

Empathetic and Patient listening- Just like a mentor, you have to listen to the taste and preferences of the clients and if he says green color in bedroom not instead on terrace garden walls, just surrender thinking its not your house after all, only if he seems adamant.

Good understanding of environment and its usage. You should actually know how to use various things around you, like a flower vase can be used to store colorful pebbles and sand.

Your inborn interest and natural flair for the things can take you a long way and before you know it you would be popular.

Be prepared for some solid investment as the cost of education is soaring high day by day and this one can prove a bit too costly….? Hmmm…what are parents for..?Once you are certified no one can stop you from flying high. So if anybody looking for an Interior designer to re- organize; re-design, re-invent your house office or school, just be ready to hear some amazing ideas and see your world rocking.

Hinduism, being one of the oldest, or the oldest religion known to man, has encompassed several dimensions throughout its evolution. Paintings have been an integral part of Hinduism. Since the Stone Age, Hindus have put to picture the deities that they worshiped and several temples around the world houses some of the finest religious painting till date.

Pre-historic Temple Murals

Sites like Bhimbhetka caves in Madhya Pradesh have been awarded UNESCO heritage site status for its oldest known cave paintings. The caves have several paintings that were in spirit of the gatherer society that inhabited them. Although, these paintings cannot be considered Murals, yet the depiction of objects with such details were not known to man in other parts of the world at that time. One such painting shows a man being hunted by a bison.

These paintings are a reflection of the society that existed and the form of worship that was prevalent. Animism, a form of Hinduism, was practiced by the people and these can be seen in the numerous animal forms in either red, green or yellow. These paintings are interspersed with scenes of child birth, communal dancing, fighting and burial.

Murals in Medieval Period Temples

Opulence of Murals and paintings produced during the medieval period in India is unprecedented. Masterpieces of cave paintings such as Ajanta, Ellora and Badami in Karnataka still enchant art lovers around the world. These paintings were usually pictorial reproduction of the stories of Jataka or Hindu epics such as Ramayana and Mahabharata.

During this period several genres of paintings evolved, which were offshoots of the traditional Hindu paintings that were prevalent. Best known among them are Madhubani, Tanjore, Mughal, Mysore and Rajput style of painting. The sheer diligence in details of these paintings were hitherto never seen.

The Mattancheri palace at Kerela has a panoramic scene painted during the 17th century shows the return of Ram and Sita to Ayodhya. In the Virupaksha Temple at Hampi, panels in the ceiling portrays scenes from the Hindu epics.

Towards the end of the Medieval period in India, Hinduism came in contact of Islam that was carried by the Muslim rulers. This saw the beginning of the decline in the patronage of constructing Hindu temples and Temple Murals never revived to their earlier forms.

Contemporary Hindu Temple Murals

Contemporary temples lack the grandeur of yesteryears, they either do not have any murals installed in them or are under exposed to people in general.

Well known muralist who had a brush with religious paintings are Raja Ravi Verma, NandiKolla Gopal Rao and controversy stricken M.F Hussain.

Matthew Goldman, also known as Puskar, of New York is one of the few artist abroad engaged in religious paintings and exhibitions themed around the Hindu epics like Bhagavad-Gita and Vaishnav ideologies that he imbibed during his early life.

Of all that has been created, the Murals of the yesteryears are far better than contemporary creations, there does not seem much to be done but preserve what has been handed down to us and hope something of equivalent beauty be created some day.

Going through a lean patch? Need some inspiration to fight those evil forces that have bogged you down? Maybe its time you got a mural of the Tamil God of War, Murugan.

With followers spread throughout South India, China, Malaysia and Sri Lanka, Murugan is one of the most revered of Hindu deities. The Murugan Temple at Palani is one of the most famous temples with an equally famous Mural of the Lord painted by Sage Bhogar. The rich history of this temple is stuff of folk lores.

Temples of Murugan have been built by emigrant Malayalees in Singapore, Australia, Malaysia and U.S.A.

Murugan Shrines and Murals in Malaysia

Lord Murugan, also known as Kartikeya, son of Shiva and Parvati, was the vanquisher of the demon army of Tarakasura. The day that the war occurred is celebrated as Thaipusam by Tamilians world over. Fanatics pierce themselves with lances and some even draw chariots with hooks attached to their bodies. Many forms of extreme body piercing is a common sight during the Thaipusam, which is done to appease the Lord.

The Batu Caves in Malaysia houses a 113 year old temple of breath taking beauty dedicated to the worship of Murugan. The Limestone hill of the Batu has several caves and shrines. This was once the shelter of the indigenous Malaysian people. The hills situated on the bank of river Batu has been completely converted into shrines of Lord Murugan, this was in the year 1891. several of these caves have murals depicting the wars fought by Murugan carrying the ‘vel’. There are Murals depicting scenes of Mahabharata, in one of these, Arjuna is shown in consultation with Lord Krishna, his charioteer and counsel.

Worship Among The Tamils

In Tamil Nadu, more than fifty temples have been dedicated to the worship of Murugan, of which some are noteworthy. The temples at Palani, Tiruttani and Tiruchendur records thousands of footfall during the Thaipusam. Apart from Thaipusam, devotees throng to these shrines on the eve of new year, Bhramotsav and Skanda Shasti.

The presence of Tamils in Sri Lanka has ensured the presence of Murugan as well. The geological proximity of India and Sri Lanka has helped in the spread of Vel worship in Sri Lanka. The Pre-Buddhist Sinhalese also followed Murugan until the advent of Buddhism, however, the worship is now considered cult-worship, prevalent only among some tribes in Sri Lanka. Although Buddhism is predominant in Sri Lanka, Murugan seems to be the favorite deity among Tamils and Sinhalese alike and worshiped to maintain lasting peace and prosperity. The temple at Katirkamam in Sri Lanka shows Murugan seated on a peacock with a couple of consorts and and a snake at his feet.

The temple at Ezhathu in the Batticoloa district of Sri Lanka has a Mural of Murugan driving his chariot.

Murugan Worship Among Non-Tamils

Murugan, being the eldest son of Shiva and Parvati, is worshiped all around India, with temples of the Lord in Pehowa in Haryana, Batala in Punjab and Pune in Maharastra. Also known as Kartikeya, he is worshiped at various temples overseas, famous among them are Murugan Temple in Maryland, USA and Sri Sivasubramaniar Temple in Switzerland. Most of these temples have Murals depicting scenes of Mahabharata.

Murugan Temple Murals are best appreciated in the temples, not in second hand reproductions.

Since the beginning of deep sea explorations in 1960, scientists are of the view that more is known about the moon than the oceans, more so when it comes to the deep seas. Life forms in the deepest recess of the earth has been inspiration for fairy tales and sci-fi movies. The enigma that the ocean has, kindles the artists and muralists into creating equally enigmatic seascapes.

Antarctic Ocean Marine Life — Land of the Emperor Penguins

Antarctic Ocean or also known as the Southern Ocean is the most fertile of oceans, its relatively cold waters absorb more oxygen making it easier for many life forms to thrive. Debatably, the Antarctic Ocean is not considered as a separate ocean in itself, and often clubbed with the other oceans.

Varied life forms, well known among them, such as the microscopic bioluminescent planktons to the endangered Blue Whales are all to be found in the dark waters of the southern ocean.

All these and more makes the Antarctic ocean a fine theme for a Ocean Marine Mural. If you need a mural that has the touch of royalty, get one of the Emperor Penguin, one of the most amazing avian forms known for its tenacity. It is also the tallest among penguins and holds the record of deepest dive for penguins.

Deep Ocean Marine Life — Life in the abysmal depths

Science fictions might have overdone the image of horrific life forms in the deepest parts of the ocean, but they were not too far from the truth.

At a depth of 10,911 meters, the highly saline and hot waters were thought to be highly non-conducive to life, add to that incredible pressures, its the perfect picture of hell. But recently this was proved to be wrong, life forms such as the deep sea lantern fish, and several forms of squids have been found. More has to be discovered about these creatures whose primary sustenance is hydrogen sulphide. Their adaptation to absence of light and oxygen is still to be understood in details.

To be honest, if you really want a Deep Ocean Mural, your best bet is the wild imagination of your muralist.

Pacific & Atlantic Ocean Marine Life

Among the most used themes for Ocean Marine Murals are, yes you guessed it right, dolphins and mermaids. Oysters showing off big pearls are also worth considering. The Pacific Ocean is the largest Ocean covering one third of the entire earth’s surface, it is larger than all the continents combined. Its home to the brutal sharks and colossal blue whales.

Murals of Sunset over the Hawaiian coast in the Pacific region is classic example of Ocean Murals. The mysterious Bermudas or the Bahamas in the Atlantic Ocean have inspired several famous muralist in creating some masterpieces in seascapes. The Bermudas have had a long history British colonization, hence, their art galleries are full of Murals by famous British painters and visiting painters, notable among them are Americans Georgia O’Keeffe and Winslow Holmer.

All in all, from fantastic Mermaids and pretty Dolphins to the scary Sharks, Ocean Marine Life forms make great Murals.

Sharks are the perfect embodiment of aggressive brute force, ruthless predation and survival of the fittest. Sharks are known to have existed long before the dinosaurs came into being and are still scaring the wits out of seafarers.

In today’s super aggressive corporate world, finding a shark mural in the boardroom should not be surprising. Or you may decide to antagonize your opponents by putting up a Shark Mural and calling them for dinner!

Are Sharks Really That Nefarious?

The mention of the word ’sharks’ is enough to make hair stand on end. Thanks to movies like ‘Jaws’ and ‘Deep Blue Sea’, the image of sharks in our popular culture has been that of a man-eater. It isn’t entirely false that sharks are known for attacking humans, but that happens only when sharks misunderstand humans for seals or penguins. Unless they are provoked, or there is blood in the water, sharks do not approach humans, actually they are very shy of human presence. Humans are not natural food for sharks.

Shark Wall Murals — Appreciating the Beauty of the Monster

Unknown to most of us, sharks have a romantic side to them, male sharks are known to give love bites to female sharks during their mating ritual. However, the Sand Tiger Shark and Shortfin Mako Shark are also infamous for their embryophagy, they eat up their own siblings right inside their mother’s womb!

Sharks have a sharp sense of smell and electric sensitivity, they can sense prey hidden in sand by the electrical signal they generate. The spiny Dogfish can even swim while sleeping !

Sharks have unparalleled hunting precision, their streamlined bodies can help them achieve speeds of up to 50 kilometers per hour, add to that their keen sense of smell and motion sensing, sharks are the perfect predators, sometimes considered superior to dinosaurs.

No wonder Ocean Shark murals are perfect to pamper the male ego.

Shark Undersea Mural — Odd One Out

Why would you possibly walk into a store and pick a Shark Mural when there are lots of pretty things to pick from?

Despite the sinister look that a Ocean Shark Mural has, it stands out from the crowd, the power and precision that a shark portrays is not to be found anywhere else. Obviously, mermaids and dolphins are more in demand than Shark Murals, but then how many out there appreciate the fact that the ruthlessness of a shark is the same that has made man survive the odds.

For a modest price, an Ocean Shark Mural can be the perfect inspiration for you every time you lay your eyes on it.

Dolphins and Mermaid murals are for crybabies, get one that oozes power and beauty effortlessly.

Apart from the obvious advantage of low maintenance, what else is different about Ceramic Tile Murals? Ceramic Tile Murals are good at withstanding harsh temperatures behind stoves and wet conditions in wash rooms. They have the unparalleled sheen that normal wall painted murals fail to deliver.

These Murals cover much less space but give the desired effect of focus to your otherwise dull looking kitchen or wet bar.

They have the ability to be customized to your will. Just provide them with your personal designs and patterns and they will be transferred into Tiled Murals.

Hand Painted Ceramic Tile Murals

Factory manufactured Ceramic Tile Murals are not always easily customizable, since the production of these murals take place in bulk, customization is not encouraged unless you order in bulk, however, things have changed and even smaller orders are catered to by several companies that has satisfaction of their customers at heart. Color Bakery at Vermont U.S.A is one among them

The Balian family of Jerusalem has been producing Hand Painted Tile Murals since 1922, award wining artist Joan Hardin and Pamela McNay are well known Hand Painted Tile experts. Commissioning someone of their caliber is definitely going to be burdensome to your pocket, but you can always find some one in your locality or over the cyber market to cater to your specific needs. Hand painted Tile Murals are all about taking personalization to new heights, be prepared to shell out more than those buy-and-paste varieties.

Kitchen Ceramic Tile Murals

Ceramic tiles are favorite choices of décor when it comes to jazzing up bathrooms, wet bars and kitchens. The durability that Ceramic Tiles provide is not be found in resin murals. Soot and oil deposits that cling to kitchen walls are an unsightly affair. Ceramic Tiles are perfect for such conditions, just wipe clean with a damp cloth and they will shine like new.

Ceramic tiles are good at maintaining the luminescence of the kitchen, they reflect light more efficiently and make your grimy kitchen look pleasant. Ceramic tiles are water resistant and are considered more hygienic to wall paints. The fact that the basic ingredients that go into the making of a tile, earth clay, rather than artificial resins may be a turn on if you are an environmentalist at heart !

Western Ceramic Tile Murals

Clay and ceramics have had a long association with the east, particularly with China. Over 3000 producers of Ceramic Tiles are present in the Foshan City of China alone. These however, are not Mural Tiles, nonetheless, the dominance of oriental ceramic products can be imagined with the enormous volume of exports that they make.

In the west, much alike their eastern counterparts, Ceramic Tile Murals are favorites for decorating kitchens and bathroom backsplashes. The primary difference between them being that of themes. Western Ceramic Tile Murals are inspired by western wildlife and lifestyle. Westerners are also particular about safety standards and quality, The Ceramic Tile Institute Of America is ample proof of that.

Those Ceramic Tile Murals sitting at the back of your kitchen sink are special after all.

Children room murals are made on various themes. Ideally speaking most of these should be the handiwork of the child’s imagination. Since the child knows that it is his art work that is going to be on display therefore they try to think about something that really impresses them and also something that they can relate to. However with the rising trends of sophistication and also people wanting to get everything done professionally, there are people who are doing these professionally. The professionals can also be manoeuvred in such a manner that some ideas are taken from the child about his liking…like their famous cartoon character, favourite themes etc. What one can do is to sit with the child and also select the major themes from the internet or books and see where their likings reside and then one can proceed in accordance to the likings of the children. You can shortlist the jungle themes, farmyards, teddies, Noddy, beach scene, Aquarium or the Night sky…there are immense possibilities depending on what your child would like, and what he would relate to.

Painted wall Murals are a depiction of the mental state of mind of the residents of the house. They show that the residents have aesthetic inclinations and they consider their homes as the artistic peaceful abode, which is required to have a relaxed peaceful state of mind. Painted wall Murals add a huge design element into your room and in fact the entire setting of the house seems to be like an extension of the whole theme depicted and created by the mural itself. The remaining room seems like an extension to the design on the wall mural. Therefore even if you leave the rest of the room without any other adornments it would not seem incomplete as the wall art has already taken care of doing up your room.

Hand painted wall murals allow you to indulge in the design of your choice and they can actually give the creative self of yours a go! In case you are planning on doing the wall murals yourself then there should ideally be no stopping you as you can direct your artistic venture in the colour schemes and the motives of your choice. Designs can be selected in accordance to the decor of your room. In case it is a traditional decor then you can complement them with ethnic designs or borders, however a modernistic set up would entail using similar colour palette that can supplement the colour scheme of the room as such. If you are trying to do it the first time then you can use the help of a projector with the designs that you want to make on the wall. You can draw the outline from the projector display on the wall and trace the outlines, with the help of these lines then this can be the first step in your initiation as an artist and you can well be termed as the hand painted wall murals artist who specializes in the projects of any kind. Your inspiration comes from within since it is your own house that you are doing and therefore the motifs and the colour choice is all that is your personal preference, and you would also take that extra step to be as creative and as neat as possible in your creative endeavour.

Custom painted wall murals are in fact very much in vogue these days. In addition to enhancing the features of the room they also attempt to cover up what is lacking in the room in terms of architecture and designing, For example in a bathroom without windows, wall murals can be used to give the appearance of nature surrounding the view, or you can even paint a window, and the scene can be painted as depicting anything that you want it to be. Thus the creative wall murals can be used to enhance the features of your room or better still it can give expression to your creative skills!
